☕ Join us for a Free Chai Chat

Reader,

I went to pick up curry leaves.
I came home thinking about community.

August has not been the easiest month for me, and I feel like I'm just now coming up for air.

Maybe that's why this moment stayed with me.
And it's part of why I'm inviting you to join me for a free Chai Chat on identity shifts.

I've also been thinking a lot about identity and belonging, in my own life and in conversations with clients.

Who am I now in this chapter of life?
How do I show up when the old version of me doesn't fit?

It started with me picking up curry leaves from an Indian neighbor who had offered them in a local WhatsApp group.

I make a mean dal with them, so obviously I said yes.

She invited me in and an hour later we had lost track of time.

I met her daughter who was home from college, and found out that she went to my son's high school. She and my son even followed each other on Instagram without actually knowing each other.

Her husband offered to chat with my son about his job search.

Then she told me almost 20 strangers had come by for curry leaves.
And so many of them stayed to chat.

Sometimes, you just need a reason to walk through someone's door.

I've been thinking about creating a space for women asking some of these same questions.

I want to start with the curry leaves version of a drop-in conversation.

A space to talk about who we are now, what's changing, and where we might be heading.

If that sounds like a conversation you'd like to join, register HERE.

P.S. I’ll guide the hour with a few thoughtful prompts around identity shifts, belonging, and how we show up when life changes. There’ll be space for real conversation, reflection, and connection. Come as you are!

SIGN HERE for the free Sept 14 at 10 AM PT chat.
Please double-check the time in your time zone.

P.P.S. Wonder where those curry leaves ended up? Here’s a recent photo of the dal my son made all by himself. It only took me 3+ years to teach him 😂 The legacy has officially been passed on.

Which makes THIS OLD PHOTO FROM HIS BABY DAYS even funnier, because he was very much not a dal fan in his early days.

Dear Reader, One quick photo, years ago, became the one that mattered. Chicago, July 2010 Last week, a dear friend passed away, and it had me thinking about the people who come into our lives and become family. I met Pravin and his wife when I was single and had just moved to Peoria for my first job. Those early days were hard. I was an immigrant trying to fit into American culture. I was far from my own family, and somehow, their home became a place where I felt at home. Their two kids were...

Reader, I took my son to another business mixer today. No nudist community this time. 😂 Just a regular room full of people there to connect. And if you have ever walked into one of those rooms not quite sure where to stand, who to talk to, or how to start, you know the feeling. He walked in a little easier this time. He talked to several people, one of them an electrician who had just started his own business, after quitting a job that had turned toxic. He has an 18-year-old son and tells him...

Hiking on a local trail with my son

Reader, If you saw yesterday’s email, you know I took my 23-year-old son to a networking mixer at a nudist community without telling him where we were going. Us on a trail hiking in what is practically our backyard, connecting without technology. The mixer. It was great. People were warm, friendly, and yes, fully dressed. Worth repeating. 😂 Someone handed my son a card about volunteering at their nonprofit, and someone else asked him to follow up about a possible opportunity. In that one...
